Heikell Family Wine started with the marriage of Eric and Julie in 1997. Julie's father Gene Cravea began Eric's journey in the vineyard teaching him how to grow premium grapes. The Cravea family has been growing grapes long before prohibition and immigrating to the US from Italy. During prohibition the family sold "table grapes" to bay area Italians. Genes mentoring led Eric and Julie to begin growing their own grapes in 2008 and making their first vintage at Spelletich Cellars. From 2008 to 2012 Barbara and Tim Spelletich took them under their wing and taught them the ins and outs of winemaking. Wanting to expand and learn other winemaking styles Eric started working at Laird Family Estate. At Laird Eric was able to work under Paul Hobbs and Brian Mox as the cellarmaster and assistant winemaker for 10 years. After years of growing and winemaking the Heikell Family brand was born and the the wines will be released in 2022.
